HORSES GATHERING AT PIMLICO Baltimore Mil August 7 The racing strings of Mr McMurtrie Clement N Williams and Charles K Harrison Jr have reached Pimlico in cbargo of trainer Anthony Allen for the fall meeting of the Maryland United Hunts August 29 31 and Septem ¬ ber 2 The liest known thoroughbred in the con ¬ signment is the veteran jumper and longdistance tlat racer Tell f lire that has come back after a r tircmcn of several seasons and looks good for many years to come Bachelor Willing Mabo LNavarre and a threeyearold lilly out of Mamie H are in the consignment that lias been resting at Mr McMurtrics farm near Trainer Pa since the Close of the Brookline meeting meetingAlgie Algie and J W Fyrc were left behind as the former met with an injury at the Country Club meeting and the latter broke down at Pimlico and it will be some time before either is fit to face the starter again Algie was far from himself at Pimlico in the early spring but improved vastly at the Hunts meeting and it was thought he had rounded liack into the form that made him the kingpin of timl ertoppers some seasons ago but in his last race he injured himself so that Tim Donohuc who was riding was forced to pull him up In upIn all Anthony Allen has fourteen in his care while Theodore Coles is pointing about eight or nin for the Hunts meeting One of the best in the lot is G Bernard Fenwicks Cloud which big owner has been hacking around the Green Spring Valley for the past two months Conby the black marc by Contract belonging to George Blakiston Jr is also in the care of trainer Coles and the winner of the Maryland Hunts Cup is expected to give a ood account of herself at Pimlico PimlicoMuch Much interest is manifested in the Ladies Plate a handicap steeplechase at three miles for boua fide hunters which are to be entered and run in the name and colors of a lady The nominator of the winner as well as the rider will receive u suitable nrizo while the owners will divide a purse of 400 the winning owner giving a dinner on the evening of the rnce to the nominators own ¬ ers and riders of tho other horses A number of prominent society ladies are expected to make nomi ¬ nations nationsHorses Horses belonging to the United States government and officers of the army have boen put In training at Benning for the twomile flat race and inter ¬ national service steeplechase two of the features of the coming meeting Lieutenant Rumbongb ot the Fifteenth Cavalry who is expected to ride has been competing in the polo games at Narra gansett Pier while Lieut Benjamin Lear Jr is on his way home from Sweden with the United States Cavalry Olympic team In addition to these excel ¬ lent horsemen such good riders ns Lieut CharltfS K Rockwell Lieut U G Alwaander and Lieut It F Tate are also expected to take part and many prominent War Department officials will Come over from Washington to witness the sport sportThe The board of stewards for the United Hunts will consist of Charles K Harrison Jr Frank J Bryan Redmond C Stewart aud Joseph K Davis William P Uiggs will officiate as presiding judge and the other officials are Frank J Bryan clerk of the course Herman P Cokling clerk of the scales Elmer J Wilson starter P T Roche timer William Assheton paddock judge James McK Merryman patrol judge The racing committee is composed of Francis Key Murray Redmond C Stewart Thomas II Symington Murray Hanson I Sterett Gittings Charles K Harrison Jr George Brown Jr W M Manly and Spalding L Jenkins
