PROMISING YEARLING IN GERST STRING STRINGCincinnati Cincinnati October 28 Trainer George Ham has what horsemen regard as one of the most sen ¬ sational yearlings developed this season The young ¬ ster was gelded as a weanling and is by Mnrta Snnta Roberta Lee by St George This gelding recently worked i quarter for trainer Hani in 23 142 pounds up Trainer Hani has seven other year ¬ lings In Ills care nil of which are owned by the Tennessee turfman William Gerst Among them are a colt and two fillies by Marta Santa a colt by Mazagau a colt by Mexican a filly by MeGee and a colt by Out of Reach The latter youngster is a halfbrother to the highclass race horse Bear catcher catcherEvery Every one of the youngsters has been a quarter in better than 23 and none of them in fact has really been tried out as yet yetTrainer Trainer Ham is preparing to ship to Nashville at the close of the Latouia meeting and rest for tlio winter Trainer Ham likes the idea of wintering at Nashville The Gerst farm is adjacent to the Cumberland Park track which course is kept in excellent condition ail winter and still is a superb training ground due to its having been preserved as the site of the Tennessee State Fair and a rest ¬ ing place for trotters trottersTrainer Trainer Ham is counting on beginning the racing season of 1913 with a practically new string of horses
