FREDERICK JOHNSONS 1913 MATERIAL New York December 10 One of the pretentious stables of thoroughbred horses now in winter quar ¬ ters at Sheepshead Bay is that of Frederick Johnson John P Mayberry is in charge and it is the present plan to conduct a campaign of some importance next season seasonMr Mr Johnson played an important part in the ama ¬ teur racing of 1912 by the purchase of some high class horses that he put to such racing His colors were seen frequently during the threeday meeting of the Piping Bock Racing Association and it was there that Iteylxjurn was first Introduced as a gallo ¬ way He at once proved his worth among the little fellows and barring his Inability to break rapidly he is beyond question the best galloway that has been shown in many a day not even excepting Boogtir KIM which almost brought an end to such racing about tlie New York hunt meetings by reason of his stii eriority to the others othersUeybourn Ueybourn is a little fellow that was brought to the races by W O Scully and as a twoyearold he proved himself a horse of both speed and courage Iteybourn is not the only one that Mr Johnson brought to the amateur races Cock o1 the Walk and Light O M Life are two others All three of these had earned their spurs on the larger tracks and are still well able to return to the bigger circuit at any time Others in the stable are Sixty a horse that raced both iu this country and in England under the silks of Harry Payne Whitney and the twoyearold bay filly Private Flag by Hamburg Privateer This twoyearold has never been to the post but she lias shown enough in her trials to induce Mr Johnson to keep her for next season seasonThen Then there are nine yearlings in the string and if looks and private trials count they will be heard from many a time next season The best looking one of the lot is a dark chestnut son of Peep oDay and Tarpa He stands about fifteen hands one Inch high am is a colt of particularly sturdy lines Ho is built on rugged lines and with his short coupling is well equipped to carry weight His shoulders are well sloped and he lias powerful quarters He stands with his feet well under him and his under ¬ pinning suggests strength and agility agilityA A black colt that has been named Ardington is another that is expected to be well worth while He is a son of Ellisdale and Debater and in many respects resembles his sire He has a good head and neck powerful well placed shoulders shouldersA A buy colt by Dorante Sallie Moments is one that is expected to come to hand early He has plenty of size and is longer Iu the barrel than the others His quarters indicate speed and he has a smooth frictionless way of galloping gallopingMr Mr Sniggs is a brown son of Oddfellow and Nametoka that stands close to fifteen hands two inches He has strong shoulders and is furnished with immense quarters that suggest great driving iwwer iwwerA A chestnut son of Uncle and Countess Wanda greatly resembles his illustrious sire and in bis general conformation he is another that should bo brought to the races early if such is the desire of Mr Johnson JohnsonA A bay gelding by Uncle Catherine Carson stands fifteen hands high He has particularly well formed oval quarters quartersThere There are three fillies and the most remarkable one is probably tlte gray daughter of Electioneer and Motley Right now she is larger than her mother and her lines are so heroic that it may 1 some time before she is brought to the races She will not be hurried Her lines are of tho strongest and withal she is symmetrical though not of the filly type looking more like a robust colt A bay sister to Helen Barbee by Peep oDay Lady Bramble is a good looker She is rather better looking that her sister sisterThe The other one In the Johnson stable is a half sister to Private Flag being a bay daughter of Plaudit and Privateer Sho is a shapely filly With such a string to beKiiutbe season ef 1913 the Frederick Johnson stable should be one of im ¬ portance during the coming turf year
