Only two favorites scored. Orbed Lad. at odds-on. and Iampinea. The latter received a gilt edged ride from Jockey Steele, who is the best lightweight rider hit. James Mac.Maiius owns George Oxnanl. the -K to 1 shot that won the first race. He lieat a good bean] of sprinters. Furlong, the favorite, raced disappointingly, being unable to get to the front as iu his previous starts. Jake Krause. trainer for the stable of Wivs*-ott and Krause, has bona suspended pending an investigation into charges made by .1. E. Edwards that Krause was endeavoring to intimidate him iu tho matter of selling races-. Krause claimed Parlor Boy from Kdwards k John out of his last race aud it is charged, wanted Kdwards to buy him back, and uixin the latter refusing to do so. threatened to use retaliating measures- iu future selling races. The matter is Ix-ing investigated by the stewards. Jockey J. Loftus has severed his connection with the stable K. J. Mackenzie, owing to increasing weight. He has fouud it difficult to make the weight allotted to the mounts from the stable. He intends to remain here and ride as a free lance ou horses on which he can make the weight without reducing.
