MANAGER HACHMEISTER ON HAND Louisville Ky April 9 John Hachmeister manager of the Douglas Park and Latonia jockey clubs arrived hero after having spent the winter in Florida Mr Hachmeister returned in the hloom of health He went south worn out after a season of hard work Hunting and cruising worked wonders with him in a physical way He is ready for the activities of spring and summer racing and follow ¬ ing n sojourn of three or four days in St Louis where he went last night he will take up his duties in connection with the big meeting which begins Monday Jlay 20 at Douglas Park ParkAranager Aranager Hachmeistor is pleased over the array of eligibles for the various stake events to be run at Douglas Park lirst on the opening day the Ken ¬ tucky Handicap one mile anrt a quarter for three yearolds and upward 10000 added the Memorial Handicap six furlongs for threeyearolds and up ¬ ward 2000 added the Spring Trial Stakes five furlongs for twoyearolds 2500 added the Spec ¬ ulation Stakes selling one mile and a sixteenth for threeyearolds and upward 1500 added addedThe The Kentucky Handicap which will lie the in ¬ augural feature is from the monetary standpoint the richest spring and summer stake in America it will bring together a field the like of which has not been seen since racing ceased on the metropolitan courses It will attract the cratk contestants of the Kentucky Derby to be decided May 10 at Churchill Downs and it is assured that the contenders iu this race will lie the best in years Manager yearsManager Haclimeister is gratified over the outlook for racing in Kentucky and throughout the country The sport is gaining in strength and popularity he says and he looks for a glorious revival of the pastime in many places where now It is under the ban legislationHe as the result of misguided legislation He is specially pleased over the class of horses now in training in Kentucky He says it means even letter racing than the patrons of the sport have known heretofore or had even hoped for forFrank Frank Bruen will join JFanager Hachmeister hero in arranging for the Douglas Park season The magnificent plant is in line trim and there is noth ¬ ing to do In connection with It During the summer Manager HacJimelster probably will build a club honse at Douglas Park
