RACING GOSSIP FROM THE EAST New York April 10 William Lakeland whose colors have not been seen for some time will take the field again this season with a small stable There are at present five in his barn and three of these will be shipped to Havre de Grace to liegin their racing careers for although threeyearolds they have not yet been seen under colors colorsHe He has a particularly promising one in Grey Planet out of tlie good mare Motley which raced so well in the Lakeland colors some years ago His sire is Electioneer the Futurity winner of 11100 Grey Planet is u line type of horse for steeplechas ing and it is predicted by those who have seen him that he will be taking the obstacles in due time if he shows anything like the merit that is expected of him As one turfman expressed it he looks like a Harbor Hill winner Lakeland has another threeyearold by the same sire that gives promise of being a usnful race horse also alsoTlie Tlie Sanford stable consisting of about twenty twoyearolds is expected at Belmont Park in a day or two Little has been done with these horses yet but with six weeks in which to get them ready trainer Albright exacts to be able to hold his own on the metropolitan courses The success of the horses from this stable is always pleasing for the reason that they come from the only thor ¬ oughbred breeding establishment of note in the Empire State StateThe The stables at the Long Island courses were pretty well depleted after the special trains for Havre de Grace left today T J Healey Frederick Johnson and K K Watkins made the largest ship ¬ ments and so well have the horses been going along that the owners and trainers have little fear of meeting the horses that have IMCU racing at Nor ¬ folk
