FORMER JOCKEY KILLED IN WEST Spokane Wash April 28 In todays fourth race at the Alan track the winner Manasseh simply played with her opposition She permitted Ada AltiiIe 1o take the lead in going down the back stretch but dashed to the front on the far turn and won with great ease John Louis closed with a great rush and beat First Star which appeared to have Mtonil place safe until the last few strides stridesGeorge George A Fraser vicepresident and general man ¬ ager of the Victoria County Club of Victoria 11 ti who has recently recovered from a severe illness Jirrlved yesterday with his family to remain until the close of the meeting He is the owner of one of the largest strings racing here this season seasonW W II Fizcr arrived this morning coming direct from Kentucky His horses arrived in advance ° f Mm MmLloyd Lloyd Fountain a former jockey and son of D S Fountain who is at present racing a string of horses here fell out of a window in a Spokane hotel where luuwas visiting a young woman Saturday night in company with jockeys Chas Burlingame and W 7 OBrien He left this room in advance of the other Ixiys and fell from an open window in a dark hall ¬ way that had no protection to the sidewalk about thirty feet below fracturing his skull An operation was performed hut he died Sunday at noon Hur lingame OBrien and the young woman were held pending an inquiry which was held this morning After the testimony was heard they were all exon ¬ erated the jury returning a verdict of accidental death His mother who was coining here from Cali ¬ fornia to be with the family arrived in the morning i few hours before he passed away
