BUILDING NEW MONTREAL TRACK Montreal Quo June 2 That there will be rac ¬ ing this season over the promised new mile race track at Dorval is now assured Tile plant when completed will bo much after the style of Con naught Park at Ottawa and will bo highly accessible from tlie city of Montreal The property on which the plant Is being erected is within a few hundred feet of the Dorval station and may be reached by the Canadian Pacific and Grand Trunk Kullroads in about twenty minutes time The stand will back on the Canadian Pacific railroad tracks while tho Grand Trunk lines are only a few yards farther south No attempt to complete tho steeplechase course will be made this season although little or no grading will be necessary in Its construction constructionWork Work on the track has progressed much more rapidly than was looked for Yin deepest of the tills have been completed they being where the grand stand otliccs paddock and betting enclosure will be located The deepest fill at any portion of the track proper is not over two feet Tlie work is being done from four points There are over 200 men and fifty teams employed on the plant they being divided so that part of them are working on the stretches and the others on the turns turnsThe The work on the front stretch is farther advanced than at any other part and it will be linked with the turns by the middle of this week This will leave the filling in of the baekstretch to be finished before the grading is commenced The soil is of a sandy nature which will make it easy for grading while at only one or two siwts will there be need of top dressing Everything dressingEverything is in readiness for the commencement of work on the construction of tiie buildings The tenders have been let and tlie contracts call for their completion JulyThe by the end of July The lumber is being cut at a nearby mill ami will be shipped to Dorval ready to put up The stables will be built at the west end of the property on the railroad side while to the east of them will be tlie ollices paddock betting ring and tlie stand These latter buildings will all be connected with one another so that the public may journey from the stand to the ring and paddock without going from under cover The stand will have a seating capacity of 3500 while the ring will be over one hundred feet in length and nearly as wide wideThe The management of the plant will seek admission into the Canadian Kacing Associations this season and will ask for dates for a mooting The owners of the plant will run an extensive fair and will plan the plant so that between meetings it can be used as an amusement park
