GOSSIP FROM KENTUCKY SOURCES Louisville Ky July 22 James Gritliu is rest ¬ ing his stable at Douglas 1ark until racing is resumed on the Kentucky tracks in September He has had several horses there since the spring meeting closed including his good Juarez winner Idle Tale which now promises to round into good racing form the coming fall He will shortly take up several yearlings which were bred in Kentucky liv J S McCullough and which are chiefly bv sires owned by tho J K Keeiie estate The youngsters that Mr McCullough bred at the home place at Urbana 111 Gritlin will not take up until late in the fall though they are well developed and promising promisingTrainer Trainer C W Carroll will ship to Churchill Downs from California some time next mouth the pick of the 1013 crop of A 1 Spreckcls yearlings and several older horses which he will race in Kentucky during tho coming fall The yearlings in this shipment will be left in Kentucky to race in tin twoyear old stakes next season and what young ¬ sters he races at the Jockey Club Juarez trad in Mexico next winter he will take there from the Spreckels ranch in November Carroll thinks the irop of yearlings now owned by Mr Spreckels an lh best ever raised by the California turfman All their dams are richly bred stud matrons and not a few in the collection are closely related to good winners winnersWhile While none of the twoyear olds raced in Spreckels colors this season were anywhere near the Old Koschud or Little Nephew class still there were a number of serviceable youngsters which promise to improve with age
