NEXT SHIFT WILL BE TO WINDSOR Final Meeting of 1913 at That Track Will Open Nert Saturday with Good Prospects Detroit Mich August 9 More than 40000 will lie distributed in stakes and purses during the second summer meeting of the Windsor Jockey Club begin ¬ ning next Saturday The class of horses contesting will be equal to that of those seen In action during the July meeting across the river So far as the quantity is concerned stable room has been asked for nearly 500 bead or about fifty more than were on band for the first weeks racing here this year One notable change in the racing contention will be the improved form exhibited by the Kentucky racers In July the horses from the bine grass region seemed jaded as the result of their bard campaigning over Ihe Louisville and Latonia tracks during the hot months of May and June JuneThe The gratifying change in the temperature of tho racing points in the vicinity of the great lakes have invigorated the southern horses to a perceptible de ¬ gree They cut little or no figure in the races at Windsor and seemed dull and stale during the early part of the Hamilton meeting But during the last week they have come Into their own with the result that they have won many races aT Fort Krie in ¬ cluding the rich Dominion Handicap which was easily taken by Flora FIna FInaFlora Flora Fina will lie a contender in the Ferry Handi ¬ cap to be run on the opening day of the Windsor meeting Other ellgiblcs which look like sure start ¬ ers In this stake on Saturday next Include Flabber ¬ gast Ixichlcl First Sight Little Father Groat Britain Kingly Buckhorn Leochares Hamilton and Kleburne There are thirtysix nominations to tho Ferry and the value of the stake is 2000 2000The The manner in which the Mackenzie horses have regained their form since coming to the Canadian circuit has caused racegoers to sit up and take notice Buckhorn was a wreck when he struck Windsor from Latonia but three weeks in this cli ¬ mate has benefited him amazingly Now that Buck ¬ horn Helen Barbee and the other horses in trainer Jack Adkins charge are in winning condition owner Mackenzie may be expected to see some of the racing during the approaching meeting across the river He has said lie would come bere if his colors were to bo sported in the various events for which they are eligible during the week weekAt At the present time there are SI thoroughbreds stabled at the Windsor track embracing horses that have rested here since the July meeting They In ¬ clude the stables owned by P II Jones F Fox F Dolan P J Miles H Oots G II Riching T W Bnrttschell T I Hayes W W Dnrdon B McMil ¬ lan W C Clancy J P Bickle and W Hurley Tho HurleyTho Fort Erie contingent of borses will arrive on Thursday and Friday and will number more than 400 Several carloads will arrive at Windsor from Hamilton during the coming week thus affording plenty of material for tho 49 races to be decided within the seven days daysThe The same officials will be in attendance during the tecond meeting as olliciated at the first including judges Charles F Price and Francis Nelson starter A It Dado and clerk of the scales F W Gerhardy Walter Parmer as usual will assist the judges in the handicapping
