BED WELL AGAIN TO FOBE COLORADO OWNER. TRAINEE. SADDLES THREE MORE WINNERS AT CHARLESTON. Running- of feature Race, Won by Lochicl, Marked by Altercation Between Jockeys Deronde aud Turner Racing Spirited and Betting Brisk. Charleston, S. C, December IS. At Palmetto Park this afternoon horses trained lv 11. G. Bedwell duplicated .yesterdays feat of that establishment in accounting for half of the card of six. races. Two or the winners, Righteasy aud Lochicl. ran in the colors and interest of the Colorado turfman, while Master Jim. owned by A. M. Orpcn, is trained by -Mr. ltedwcll. IiOchiels victory was achieved in the feature race, a sprinting handicap for all ages at six furlongs, whlcli engaged a good band, including 11. F. Carmans Kalinka. The latter ruled at odds-ou for the race and linished in third place. 1riuce Ileriuis. a Urst-tinie starter here, and held at the ridiculously long price of 30 to 1, took second money. Kallukas failure was probably due to jeekey Turners tactics in engaging in an altercation with Deronde. who was astride Brave Cuuarder, during the miming. Deronde is alleged to have strueK Turner witn his whip repeatedly, but claimed his action was due to Turners persistency in grabbing his leg when Brave Cuuarder ranged alongside Ka-Jinka on the lower turn, lhe action of the belig-erent riders did not help cither of their mounts and It is likely that both will be disciplined by the stewards, who are probing into the affair. Aside from this incident, racing was spirited and immensely enjoyed by a big throng, Betting action was again of good volume and fourteen layers were kept busy. liookmaker Fred Owens has been here since the opening of the meeting. A first past the post operator who was arrested in St. Louis a few days back gave the name of Fred Owens and the former lias no desire to have his name mixed up with such a transaction. Among todays arrivals were Joe Ilaymau. who came from New York. He reports that Joe Blumt: will be here in a few days to join the ranks of tin layers. Louis Sncll also arrived Irom the north. Frank H. Brown, who is racing a stable here, is laid up with ail attack of la grippe. He has been confined to his bed for a coiiple of days, but is said lo bp improving. The going at Palmetto Park is still deep, which accounts for the rather slow time in races and work-outs. Among the best trials shown tills morning were: Bahjo-Jiin Three-quarters in 1:19.
