NOTHING BUT WINNERS IN THIS STABLE b f- R. E. Watkins is a trainer of skill and a good manager in the serviceable art of "placing" his horses. This year he campaigned live horses, of which three were veterans of the track and two were three-year-olds. Two of his ancient ones Lad of Langden and Cliff Edge gave evidence of decadence iu the essential quality of speed, but no horse in his string failed to win enough money to defray its feed bills and. altogether, it was quite a comfortable year In nei results for Mr. Watkins. Last year his horses won 5,505, as compared with 9,500 this year. In this the old Clifford gelding, Blackford, played a conspicuous part, iu carrying off eleven races by way of emulating Donald Macdonalds example in showing what a seven-year-old can do when a good one. Barnegat also raced quite- profitably and the record of the stable was: Horse. Col. and Sex. A. Pedigree. 1st. 2d. 3d. Woii. Blackford br. g. 7 By Clifford Black Venus 11 8 5 ,005 iiarnegat b. g. ;!
