BUILDING UP PORTO RICO RACING. New York, December 18. Eduardo Cautino, secretary of the Porto Hico Racing Commission, will try his luck over race courses of the United States next summer. He has written that he will bring two horses from San Juan, one being a coming two-year-old by Ornament, dam Star Dreamer, and the other a filly of like age, the breeding of which he has not made known. Mr. Cautino, from his long association with racing about New York, has been of great help to the sportsmen of Porto Rico in the application of American methods in establishing the sport on the island. It was largely through his efforts that a coinmlissloii was appointed and the government constructed a tlve-furlong track over which the races are run. The rules of tin; sport are patterned after those of the Jockey Club and interesting meetings hay aln ady been given. Old-time racers in Porto Rico include John A. Miuiro, Warner Grlswell. Old Honesty and ninny others that have made the trip from the United .States. Mr. Cautino says that racing has become tremendously popular on the island and has been established on h linn footing. The government supiwrt has at all times been hearty and sincere and already plans ate making for more pretentions racing properties f on the island.
