PLUNGE GOES WRONG AT JUAREZ. Barsac, Backed Down from 10 to 1 to 4 to 1, Runs Second to Parlor Boy. El Paso, Tex., December -4. In nearly all the races at Juarez today, the finishes were exceedingly close. In the first race it was difficult to determine the winner until the official numbers were displayed. Birka and General Warren came to the finish noses apart. The former got the verdict, but General Warren would have won had they another stride to go. The only first choice to score was Cordie F., in the sixth, and she was a receding favorite, as at post time there was heavy support for Carlton Club. The latter finished last. The biggest plunge that has taken place during this meeting came when Barsac was backed from 10 to 1 to 4 to 1 to win the fifth nice. Being a slow breaker, he was outpaced In the early stages of the race, but made his bid as he swung Into the stretch for the final run home. He gamely overtook all but Parlor Boy. Izzy Ham was confined to his room today, suffering with a heavy cold. Jockey W. W. Taylor, for disobedience at the barrier In the fifth race, was suspended for live days by starter Cassidy.
