NEWSY ITEMS FROM BLUE GRASS REGION. Lexington, Ky., January 24. A syndicate of thoroughbred mare owners iu the British West Indies lias purchased the hrown stallion Mnrkie M.. by Gerolstoin Inly Cushinan. The horse was shipped from here this week. Five thoroughbred mares arrived at John S. Bar-bees Glen Helen Farm from New York this week. They are James .McLaughlin, Jr.s Ballot Girl and Star of Runnvmede. Addison Johnsons Yodler and First Peep and A. L. Astes Edith Inez. Frederick Johnsons Ballyinena. a daughter of Adam and Ellangowan, has a chestnut filly by Superman at Beaumont Farm. She goes to Uncles court this year. F. J. Nolan, of Albany, N. Y., is sending Sir John Johnson to Kentucky to make the season of 1014 at Hamburg Place. Catesby Womlford has hooked Louise B:. Olga Nethersole. Magna Stella and Cherryola to Dick Welles. August Belmont this week sent Queen of Trent to England to he mated with Tracery. ITeur de Marie, dam of Bonne Chance, the new American record miler. is owned by J. O. Keene and is at liis farm near this city. She is with foal to Orinondale. He has out of hr a yearling filly by Voter which should make a great sprinter and a two-year-old colt by St. Simonian II. Fleur de .Marie was herself fast. She ran three-quarters of a mile in 1:12. Clare Duncan dam of Clare Russell and Arnold K. died recently at Shady Brook Farm. Hutchinson, Ky. She was owned by John T. Gilbert.
