RACING RECORD OF SIR JOHN JOHNSON. According to reports from Charleston, that sterling old race horse. Sir John Johnson, has run his last race and is lo rorthwith enter the stud at John E. Maddens famous nursery of the thoroughbred. Hamburg Place, In Kentucky, under a leasing arrangement. This nine-year-old son of Ishlor and Iji Tosca II. was bred at the Ilurricana Stud of the late Stephen Sanford at Amsterdam, N. Y., and in his eight seasons on the turf has shown high class and enduring form. His racing as a young horse was confined to the tracks or New York state, to which his breeder was wont to restrict his racing operations and he was the hero of many a hard fought contest for supremacy with the best horses of his day. It was not until he passed into the ixissession of his present owner, Frank J. Nolan of the Rover-wyek Stable, that he was seen in action in other states. He possessed both siKed and stamina to such a degree that he was equally at home at sprinting or staying. It was this rare quality that mado him such a valuable racing tool.
