USEFUL MEMBERS OF A FAR WESTERN STABLE 1. Ford has attained no great eminence as a turfman and owner, but he has at least one source of satisfaction vouchsafed to few owners in that he is now the possessor of a horse that was until recently one of the joint holders of the American record at a mile. Vested Rights having covered that distance last Christmas Day in 1:87 and tied the record previously held by Centre Shot and Manasseh. The fact that Vested Rights was only able to win seven races last year in forty-three attempts shows that lie is nothing great as a race horse and his present distinction must lie ascribed to the unrivalled speed of the Juarez race track instead of anything remarkable on his part as a race horse. Still, lie was Fords trump card as a money earner and is entitled to full credit for what he has done. Of Fords other horses. Sir Alvescot. John Umis, Tremargo and Redpath all won more than 1,000 and helped materially in achieving the following stable record: Horse. Col. and Sex. A. Pedigree. 1st. 2d. 3d. Won.
