IMPORTANT STAKE RACES TO CLOSE. Since in Kentucky alone is there now racing in the great middle west, it follows that the stake offerings of the Kentucky racing organizations are extremely important in the minds of owners. This year they are on such a liberal scale that not only will they secure entries of all the good western-owned horses, but a good list of nominations from eastern owners as well. The stakes remaining to close are t host? ottered in behalf of Douglas Park and Latonia. The Douglas Park list is headed by the rich Kentucky Handicap, for three-year-olds and over, at a mile and a quarter, which has the quite unusual endowment for these days of 10,000 added. This lirst-ciass event is supplemented by the .Memorial Handicap, for three-year-olds and over, at three-quarters or a mile, with ,000 added; Spring Trial Stakes, for two-year-olds, at five-eighths of a mile, wit.i $.,500 added; and the Speculation Stakes, for three-year-olds and over at a mile and a sixteenth, under selling conditions. The Latonia list is more extensive in that it presents nine stake races. The Latonia Derby, wiU ifd.OOO added, is the most important of these. The other eight are the Inaugural Handicap, at a mile and a .sixteenth, for three-year-olds and over, with ,000 added; Quickstep Stakes, for three-year-olds ami over, at three-quarters of a mile, with 2,000 1 added: Independence Handicap, for three-year-olds and over at a mile and three-sixteenths, with ,500 addeed; Cincinnati Trophy, at three-quarters of a mile, with .,000 added; Harold Stakes, at live-eighths of a mile, with ,000 added: Clipsetta Slakes, at live-eighths of a mile, for fillies, with ,000 added, and the Valuation Stakes, at live and ji half furlongs, with ,500 added, the four events last limited being for two-year-olds. These important events all close for entries at midnight of next Saturday, .March 7, and their conditions are all set out elsewhere in this edition of Daily Racing Form. They should be awarded the einrv of every horse in the west capable of racing well in good company. i
