McTaggart ligured prominently in connection with the racing at " Palmetto Park this afternoon. By brilliant work he lauded three winners, lie also had the mounts -on Rye Straw and Fathom, both of which should have won their respective races in easy fashion. I Fathom was an intended "good thing" in the feature 1 race, a handicap at live and a half furlongs. Mc- 1 J Taggart got Fathom away forwardly, but contented 1 himself with following Susan B. until straightened 1 for the stretch drive, where he sent his mount along, J but Martin on Susan B. clearly outgeneralled McTag- 1 gait near the end and won by a nose. Sherwood 1 might have won but for being taken wide most of the 1 way. thereby losing much ground. After the finish I Paihom came back to the stand bleeding profusely I from one of his hind legs as a result of having lieen 1 iuiuped on during the miming, prcsimi.ihlv bv Joe i lieibold. Dreary weather and track conditions again confronted the race-goers. Hail, which began early this morning, continued steadily all day and converted the track into a bad condition.
