PROMINENT CANADIAN HORSEMAN DIES. Toronto. Out.. March 1!. Robert Bund of this city died at Hot Springs, Ark., last Saturday and the remaius were brought here for interment. He had perhaps as wide an acquaintance in Toronto as any one in the city, where he was horn and spent the sixty-seven years of his life. As the leading liveryman of Toronto for thirty years, taking up a business left by his father. Mr. Bond had innumerable friends siniong every class of the eonnuunltv. his geniality and good-heartedness being unbounded. As a horseman he was known as -Jin expert dirver. particularly skilful as a "whip" with tandems and a four-in-haud. when horseman- ship was recognized as an accomplishment. The death of Mr. Bond leaves Robert Davies and T. Ambrose Wood as the only Torontonians who h:r-o ever won the Kings Plate. Mr. Bonds success was scored with Ronnie Duke in 1SS7. the year the Guineas were lirst run for at a mile and a quarter, the present distance. In the earlier years of his history the distance had heen variously two miles, mile heats and a mile and a half. Mr. Rond hail been blessed with good health until recently, when he suffered from a kidney affection, an Operation for Which failed to effect relief.
