i MEETING OBJECTIONS IN LOUISIANA. j Bill to Permit Restoration of Racing to Be Amended to Overcome Criticisms. New Orleans. La., June 2. — Organization of women in New Orleans plan to boycott merchants who support a measure la-fore the legislature to legalise betting oa raring in Louisiana. Two mass meetings 3 have been held. The bill provides that New Orbans shall decide the subject for itself at a local option election. Backed by 16,660 signatures to a petition, the bill yvas introduced in the lower bouse at Baton Rouge and sent to the city affairs committee, from which a report is exjiected tomorrow. Besides Ihe referendum feature the bill provides that betting be per- ; mitted under the pari inutiiel system and that rac- ! hag be governed bv a commission modeled on that of Kentucky.
