June 5. — Perthshire, leading all the way. won the Garden City Selling Handicap, todays Belmont lark feature race, over Lohengrin and Any Pott. Perthshire was never in serious danger of defeat at any stage of the journey and held his opposition safe for speed throughout. ] Dartworth. an odds on favorite, succumbed in the third race to Louise Travels, which closed with a great burst of speed and just got up. Dartworth and Yodeiiug set the early pace. Scratches in the first race resulted iu Catalina being made a prohibitive choice and she- fully justified the confidence reposed in her by winning handily over George Roesch and The Finn. The Bobbins entry. Joe Rosenfield and Bartlett, ruled favorite iu the second and the latter was returned I the winner. Joe Rosenfield bolted to the extreme outside in turning for home. .un Cotton, mider skillful handling, took the ] steeplechase after Adventuress had set the pace for nearly the entire distance.
