IMPORTANT STABLES RETURNING TO AMERICA Laurel, Md., October 2. Harry Payne Whitney will ship his English string to this country and plans have been made to have them sail from England tomorrow. A. J. Joyner will come with the consignment, which will include twenty-one horses in training and sixteen yearlings. The broodmares, with their weanlings, will be left in England until after they foal and then they, too, will be shipped here. Other American sportsmen who have been racing in England and France are also making preparations to ship home and it is probable that the strings of Herman B. Duryea and John Sanford will be returned to this country. With the horses will come a number of American riders, who have been employed abroad and at this time it woidd appear that the turf in America will be a big gainer as a result of the war in Europe.
