AST0R HORSES RUN FIRST AND SECOND. At Newmarket last Thursday, it being the third day of the Newmarket First October meeting, the 0,000 Jockey Club Stakes for three-year-olds and over, at a mile and three-ipiartcrs. was won by W. Asters three-year-old bay colt, Trois Temps, by William the Third Semitone, with the same owners three-year-old bay filly. Ilainoaze, by Torixdnt Maid of the Mist, second, and Colonel W. Hall Walkers live-year-old bay horse. Battle-jack, bv Count Schomberg Sand Blast, third. Eleven horses ran. and in the betting it was 5 to 1 against Trois Temps, 10 to 1 against Ilainoaze. and 7 to 1 against Battlejack. It was the last of the "ten thousand pounders" of this year and in running first and second, the Astor horses probably made a record for the event. Trois Temps only previous success this year was achieved when ho won the North Derby at Newcastle, June 23. defeating Green Falcon, Cressmghani and four others.
