MARTIN CASCA was a forward contender all the way. but tired in the last sixteenth. OAPT. BEN ran well. WHITE METAL closed a big gap. ALWAYS FIRST showed speed. BAYBROOK was ridden with good judgment and saved to the last half. then, when he made ids move, saved ground on the turns and outgamed BLANKENBURG in the final drive. The latter was taken wide through the entire race and would have won easily with a good ride. SHANNON RIVER was rated in the lead under slight restraint until in the last half mile and, fencing well, hung on resolutely to the end. SWISH fell at the thirteenth fence. PULLUX moved up swiftly while rounding the far turn and easily passed PROTECTOR, but was driving hard at the end to outstay STALWART HELEN. The latter finished fast and gamely and was catching the leader with every stride. TRIAL BY JURY finished well and outgamed BANQUET in the final drive. PROTECTOR showed the most speed for three-eighths, but quit badly. . BANQUET ran well, but tired in the stretch drive. LADY ROTHA ran poorly. Scratched 1S154 Reliance. 104. CAPTAIN ELLIOTT was a forward contender all the way and easily disposed of BATTERY in the last eighth. The latter raced gamely, but tired. BEAU PERE finished well. CASTARA quit. LILLIS raced in closest pursuit and hung on tenaciously to the end. LITTLE ENGLAND was crowded back on the turn into the backstretch. but finished fast and close up. AFTERGLOAV closed a big gap.
