FAIR GROUNDS TRACK IN GOOD CONDITION. New Orleans, La., December 22. Two special shipments f horses will arrive from Charleston lilKl Juarez a few days before the opening of ih-j u Inter meeting at the Fair Grounds. This will inure all ample number of thoroughbreds to make the opening of the meeting interesting. The shin-nieilt from Juarez will leave there on Dec. 20. Th; special from Charleston will leave there Dec. 2S. It will consist of twelve or fourteen cars carrying altottt 17I horses. Another special composed of alKUit ten carloads will come to New Orleans from Charleston when the meeting at that place closes January 2. .lamps Dockery, owned by George W. Innes. has shown the keenest speed of any thoroughbred that has thus far been worked out at the Fair Grounds track In prpoaration for the winter meeting opening on Jail. 1, He went a half mile in 40 3, pulled up, and three-quarters iu 1:1S. It. It. Green has arrived from Peoria, 111., with June W. and Tip Dawdell. This sent the total number of horses at the track up to 245. E. W. Moores stable arrived from Nashville last night and several more Texas horsemen are expected to arrive this week. The Business Mens Racing Association, not being built on commercial lines, will give much to the horsemen and take practically nothing. There will be 110 charges for stall rent. The feed men of the city will have free access to the grounds and no li cense fee will be charged to trainers or valets. Jockeys will be assessed a fee of , which will no used to keep a competent physician on tlie grounds to look after the boys In ease of accident. With a view of popularizing the sport among the feminine sex several "ladles days" will lie giveu during the winter season when ladles will be admitted free to the grounds. Work on the clubhoust inclosiire is rapidly nearing completion and the racing season here promises to take 011 a social aspect this winter that it has not attained since the days of the old Metalrio race course. Word comes from Charleston that J. O. Talbott will ship his string. Including Iierrot, Some Kid. Stubborn. Jawbone. En Route. Free Trade. No Manager. Moisaut. Floral Day, Earl of Savoy. Republican, Page White, Crisco, Charles F. Grainger and Scorpil here. H. G. Bedwell is contemplating sending twenty-six horses here from Charleston.
