STILL RAINING AT JUAEEZ UNUSUAL SPELL OF WET WEATHER CONTINUES AT MEXICAN COURSE. Management Decides to Suspend Sport for Four Days Beginning Next Monday Because of Wretched Track Conditions. EI Paso, Tex., December 24. Tlic end of the extraordinary spell of wet weather that lias been pre-vtilliJi.ur here the past month Is not .ret in sight. Rain fell steadily again today and the racing at Juarez oneo more wenc on over a track that was knee deep iu slop. Owing to the unprecedented rainfall and the well-nigh impossible condition of the track Hie management deems it best to suspend racing for four days beginnig next Monday. This postponement is reluctantly forced upon the management, but it is believed to be the best course to pursue for all concerned. Long shots accounted for the two opening races. Banuiiugj, a son of Rannockburii, most of whose get race especially well in the mud, graduated from the maieu class in the first race. Twenty to one was laid against his chances. He came from the rear with a rush at tlic end to beat out Velie Forty, one of the choices that hud acted as pacemaker. Luke Van Zaudt, winner of the second race, was limited at 1- to 1. His victory over Dave Moutgoui-ryy, the odds-on favorite ot the race, was easily achieved. The winner of the third turned up in Star Berta, which weut to the post equal favorite with Silver Tone and Breczer. Silver lone made most of the pace, hut finally gave way to the daughter of Star Shoot. lUeeier was unable to kee;i up at any time and was never a factor. Auntie Curl wa3 stau ichly hacked to beat Thistle Belle at odds-on in the fourth and she did It in handsome style, leading ail the way and winning oil by herself. Nifty was never headed iu the lifth and scored by several lengths over Compton. Oblivion, with which tlie winner ruled equal favorite, was third. Du.rin, bucked for a "good tiling," won the closing dash in a canter, and tne thirty to one shot, Little Marchinoiit, outlasted Hard Hall, a receding favorite, for second money. Tlie card was one of the smallest ever decided at .UMesJUieilny.starters totaling only 30 horses. tfJcckey F.. Jackson was suspended for five days for J Trough riding, on report of the .patrol judge. N Jockey Loftus has signed a contract to ride for IS. L. Parsons and II. IC. Knapp next year.
