. JOCKEY POOL RIDING WILL CINCINNATI LAD PILOTS THREE OF DAYS WINNERS AT CHARLESTON. Has Mounts on Miss Primity, Pierrot and Luria H. D. Brown Arrives from Cuba and Gives Assurances to Horsemen as to Havana Meeting. Charleston, S. C, December 24. Jockey Pool again, distinguished himself by piloting three of todays winners at Palmetto Park. His success began in the opening dash while astride Miss Primity, a staunchly stable supported "good thing" which won handily enough from fourteen others of mcdicore calibre, Shadrach, the favorite, was second and Behest third. He followed up his initial success with Pierrot in the third and. won the closing dash with Luria. Pierrot and Luria were both favorites. Cool and cloudy weather did not have a deterring affect on the racing devotees here and the attendance was again of generous proportions and included a goodly number of first time visitors who stopped otf for a brief stay en route to Florida points. The sport was keen, several rattling finisues contributing materially towards its enjoyment. Speculation was again brisk, with the results favoring the public. The big band that started in the opener discouraged speculation and the victory of Miss Primity was disastrous to the ring. Lord Marshalls success in the second did not improve matters for the layers, for his odds were reduced persistently. Pierrot was in the van from barrier: rise and beat out Minstrel, with Bamboo following. Tlie latter was claimed after the finish by A. R. Bresler. represented in the race by Andromeda. Bay-berry Candle scored a lucky victory over Banjo Jim in the fourth, Lilley outriding Hinphy when it came to the crucial test. Yorkshire Boy was intended as a "good thing" in the fifth, but Yellow Eyes outclassed him arid won well in hand, the "good thing" beating the outsider, Master Jim. Viley tried to make a runaway race of it in the closing dash, biit Luria, well handled and saving much ground, steadily wore him down iu the stretch. H. I. Brown, who is promoting the Cuba-American Jockey Club, was an arrival here today. His mission is to complete arrangements for the shipment of the big consignment of racers that will leave for Cuba at the conclusion of tho Charleston- meeting. In his interviews with the horsemen Mr. Brown assured them that the announced policy of giving 00 purses would be strictlv adhered . to, awj that they need have r.o fear of a reduction at any time during the meeting. He brought photographs of the plant which showed tlie great amount of work already done. The pictures show that the course is all that Mr. Brown has represented it to be, in fact, it exceeds the expectations of the horsemen. Mr. Brown announced positively that there would be no syndicating of the ring and that the enclosure would he kept open. President Mcnocal of the Cuban republic, who is also honorary president of the Jockey Club, will open the meeting officially on January 7. Mary Ami K., which was claimed by J. W. Hedrick yesterday lias been returned to her former owner F. Goring, Jr.
