HAS DESIGNS ON KENTUCKY DERBY Schuyler L Parsons Planning to Ship Pick of His Stable to Kentucky This Spring Now York March IS Schuyler L Parsons will not be represented by any horses at any of tne Maryland tracks this spring He has decided io send the pick of his stable to Kentucky to fill several spring stake engagements and from the way the horses have thrived through the cold months he has every reason to expect that it will be a proii able experiment experimentThe The first stake engagement of the stable comes with the running of the Breeders Futurity at Lex ¬ ington This is one of the best twoyearobi offerings in Kentucky and Mr Parsons has as jiis representa ¬ tives Carmen the daughter of Peter Quince and Micaela for which he paid 5000 as a yearling and Scottish Knight a sou of Knight of the Thistle and Affect that has shown trainer Karrick some ex ¬ cellent trials Another twoyearold that will priii ably make the trip is a ehfstnut son of Celt and Kl lerslie a brother to Coquette He is one that is highly thought of and has several good engagements in oiistern stakes stakesThen Then Mr Parsons has designs on the Kentucky Der ¬ by 10 be run at Cnurcniil IHIWIIS Ijinisville May S lu this important stake it in his present intention to start both Sharpshooter and Phosphor a pair of colts that promised great things last season Proh ably it is only heeause Sharpshooter went slightly wrong late in the fall that he was not the winner of the Valdeii Stakes at Pimlico He was being pointed for that event when it became necessary for trainer Karrick to put him aside Silica then he has grown and improved marvelously There has been o lasting ill effect from his injury of last fall and altogether he shapes up as an ideal Derby prospect prospectPhosphor Phosphor has always shown himself a colt of greater speed than Sharpshooter and lioth Mr Par sous and trainer KarricU are linn in the belief that he can race as far as any mans horse On his private trials last year Karrick had every reason to believe that he had the best youngster in training trainingIt It has not been possible to go to work seriously as yet on these Derby candidates They have been permitted to rough it at Sheepshead Pay and grow Idg and strong Recently they were taken un anil from now until the day of shipment to Kentucky thev will be sent along gradually until brought to racing condition conditionMr Mr Parsons Intends shipping the string Icicle to New York for the opening of the Westehester Rac Ing Associations season at Belmont Park May 10
