INNOVATION FOR KENTUCKY KENTUCKYCHURCHILL CHURCHILL DOWNS TO HAVE A SEVENHAG PROGRAM EVERY DAY Management of New Louisville Jockey Club Makes MakesAnnouncement Announcement of Interest to Horsemen and Its ItsPatrons Patrons Entries for Juvenile Events Louisville Ky April IT The Xew Louisville Jockey Club always n lender in racing affairs will introduce iu iiinovatinii during tin coming spring meeting which will open Saturday May S with the running of the Kentucky Derby and con ¬ tinue for twelve days until anil including Friday May 1M 1Mu u every day of the meeting seven races will lie programmed this being the first time ill Ken ¬ tucky that such a pretentious program has boon attempted for an entire meeting The extra race each day will l e for a purse of not less than R0 and will surely he appreciated liy the horsc iiion With the best horses from all parts of tin country scheduled to take part in the racing this spring at the Downs and skilful jockeys hooded to ride them the spring meeting of the Now Louisville lotkey Club will furnish this year twelve days of such raciiig as has seldom been duplicated in this country countryThe The New Louisville Tocley Club has never had to he forced into doing things to helielit the horsemen Some years ago without any pressure whatever Manager M 1 Vinu and his associates generously raised the purses at Churchill Downs twice during one meeting ICvor since this track lias enjoyed the prosperity that follows public favor it has shared with the horsemen a fair i roiortion of its orotits orotitsAll All the horses in training here are going along well in their work and many Derby candidates are fnllilling in every way the expectations of both their owners and trainers While it is as yet too early to select with any degree of certainty the probable starters in the great race on May S it can nevertheless be set down as a cer ¬ tainty that the Held this year will outnumber any for many seasons and perhaps exceed the record of 1S75 when fifteen horses went to the post In class the field this year may out ¬ shine that of any in the fortyone years history of the great race It will be this year a battle between the cast and the west for the supremacy and it the race is truly run and decisively won will result in the winner being acclaimed the un ¬ questioned champion of the threeyearolds in lH lHThe lHt t The entry lists for the stakes to be decided during the coming spring meeting at the Downs have been published with the exception of the three big events for twoyearolds the Rashford Manor Stakes the Debutante Stakes and the Jnven ile Stakes The former is for twoyearold colts and geldings at four and onehalf furlongs with 2000 added the Debutante Stakes is a half mile dash for twoyearold fillies with yjOOO added and the Juvenile Stakes is a half mile race for youngsters of both sexes with 1000 added There are seventyone engaged in the Rashford Manor sixtylive in the Debutante and seventy six in the Juvenile This list of entries embraces the mosttalked about twoyearolds in training many of which sold for large sums at last seasons yearling sales sales1romiiient 1romiiient among the entries for the Debutante Stakes is the good Missouritired tilly Julia I which raced more impressively at Juarez the past winter than any filly that ever was trained and raced at that track She was unbeatable when the trad conditons suited her and is now in Lex ¬ ington to make a bid for the Breeders Futurity J MeCabc who rode Obi Rosebud has been en ¬ gaged to pilot her both in that event am tin Debutante Stakes Many horsemen who recollect how Calisse mid Climber came to Kentucky from Juarez and defeated all the fillies in training here do not doubt tint Julia L will make a good record on the Kentucky tracks this season seasonThe The entries for the stakes alluded to above fol
