KINGS PLATE A MOST OPEN RACE Toronto Out April 21 The Woodbine course is again in the best possible condition and trainers aro finding weather conditons suitable too A smart movo yesterday was a half mile in 50 by the Kings Plater Fair Montague the six fur ¬ longs being finished In 122 eared up He worked with Shrovetide breaking Iiohiiid and finishing in front of his companion Fair Montague is trained by John Nixon and is one of tho lot that Charles Millar purchased as yearlings from Mrs L A Livingston IIo is by Slanhope II Moadowley and so is a brother of Mausolns Tartarean by Stanhope II Tarletan Is another promising Plater in the same stable and Mr Millar looks pretty well fixed for Plate material this year yearNot Not in a score of years has the Plate been of such an open character as this year Though Lady Curzons winning mile in the Grey Stakes made her the nominal favorite she lias little bettor chance to win for Messrs Dyment than is held by the possibilities in the stables of the Lieuten ¬ ant Governor J S Ilendrle Mr Seagram Mr Millar Mr Glddlngs Mr George M Ilendrlo Mr KrMiisninn nnd Mr Yew to say nothing of the unknown quantities It is a long time indeed since such a situation existed in regard to the mostcoveted of Canadian races
