DEMOLISHING SHEEPSHEAD BAY STANDS New York April 21 Work began yesterday on the demolishing of the Sheepshead Bay racing plant in preparation for the erection of the motor ¬ drome which is to supplant the home of the thoroug bred Trees in the line of the proposed new eonrM were cut down and 100 men In charge of Edward r Gray of the Coast and Iake Construction com ¬ pany wrecked the grandstand so that by night ¬ fall little was left of the roof from which thousands have watched the decision of Suburban Handicaps and Futurities In a weeks time Gray said there would be 1000 men on the job so that the plant would be finished in time for the first big automobile race on Lalior Day DayThe The new course is already staked out so that several acres of the most desirable property near the bisv will lie saved for residences The track cuts through the soutli end of the old grandstand and verges off across the infield so that it cuts through where the second jump of the steeplechase course Is now There is considerable grading to lie done on the parts of the course which have not been used for horse racing and night and day shifts will lie necessary in order to erect the tremendous grandstand which will have seven miles of seats along the Neck road side of the prop ¬ erty
