REMARKABLE STAYING BY A PONY. "One hundred and nine years ago iu ■aatCMher.** says the London Sportsman, "a liet of ,500 wjs won bv a Londoner who ran his ponv against the mail coach from I»ndon to Exeter. They left Hyde Park Corner on Saturday night, the pony without a rider, led by a groom on another horse, and relays of men and horses were stationed along the road to lead it on. Coach and pony kept nearly together for upwards of 100 miles, after which the pony cim-tiniied •• gain ground, arriving iu Exeter on Sumiav evening an hour lieforc the mail, having performed a distance of 170 miles in twenty-three hours aud thirty nine minutes.
