COLONEL VENNIE ran a splendid lace, his saddle having slipped on the turn into the backstretcn and his jockey practically riding bareback for the remainder of the race and being always on the outside. FUSS IN BOOTS was tiring through Hie last sixteenth after racing in closest pursuit to the stretch. ST. ROCK stumbled at the start and closed a nig gap.
