November 17. — -Albert Simons, who has had charge of part of the stable belonging to H. P. Whitney, was o| erated on for appendicitis today in the private sanitarium of Or. W. J. Cruikshauk in Brooklyn. He has been lieen a sufferer from the ailment for some time, but stnod it off until today. Late accounts as to his condition are favorable. Walter B. Jennings visited Belmont Park tinlav-1 and looked over the recent im|» stations of thorougn- breds belonging to F. Johnson. C. K. G. Billings and R. T. Wilson, lie commented favorably upon the majority, but saw none that he thought ont-„ looked those he purchased for A. K. Mai-oni! er. It transpires that Mr. Jennings nearly fell a victim of one of the Zeppelin raids while in Loudon. He was onlv about 15o vards from the liomh which fell at Middletou and College streets and killed many pe-ple within a radius of fifty vards. He carries some bits of shrapnel with him which he picked up from the w rcckage. Hector McKcnzie. an old raring enthusiast, who has resided iu Los Angeles of late, is a visitor here. He will return West shortly. Mars Cassidy gave a dinner to a select party of friends at the Waldorf touight. He goes to Juarez tomorrow. George W. Mills, for many years interested in the turf, has embarked in the hotel business at Fire Island. Harry Stoddard will winter in New Orleans. The majority of the New York racing contingent is i-x-_ pected to go soiiih.
