FORMER ST. LOUIS TURF OFFICIAL DIES. Robert AulL "Colonel Bob." as his familiars nio-.t frequently called him. died suddenly last Saturday iu a St. Louis hospital from a stroke of paralysis. He was 62 years of age at the time of his death. In the days when racing was conducted on a high-class plane over the St. Louis Fair Grounds track, he was one of the group of fiue men who gave the-sport dignity and imiiortance iu that city. Sio-h men as C. C. Mattitt. Rolla Wells. Governor Francis and others like them being his close friends. In l.SS»!S he became the president of the St. Louis F:«ii-Association. The stewards then were C. C. Mattitt. Rolla Wells. J. C. Ghio and Otto F. Stifel. while-Joseph A. Murphy was secretary. Prior to that he had for years been one of the board of stewards. His occupancy of the presidency only lasted two years and came to an end when the Cella-Tilles-Adler combination bought a controlling majority of the Fair Grounds stock. Since then Mr. Aull livel the life of a quiet citizen and little had been heard of him in a uublic way in recent years. He was park commissioner of St. Louis when Rolla Wells was mayor of the city in MM anil VOi. Colonel Aull is survived by his widow, a son and a daughter. His body was interred at Bellefon-taine cemetery on Monday.
