IMP JRTED YEARLINGS IN OUR RACING. Host Fashionable Sires Abroad Represented in Entries in New York Stake Races. Imported yearlings nominated to the recently-closed Belmont Bark and Saratoga stake races for two-year-olds of 1916. form a considerable portion of the whole numlier and emphasize the value and extent of our recent bloodstock acquisitions. In all the long storv of our ini|tortations from the motherland of the thoroughbred, there is nothing approaching the rec.ird of 1915 in that regard. its story is not vet told. Shipments are now known t" lie on the high seas liotind for our shores and when the details of the important Decemlier sales of last week shall arrive it is cxiiected they will reveal further purchases on account of American owners, of choicely-bred stallions, broodmares and racing st x-k. In the stake races referred to are the nominations of thirtv-nne colts and twenty fillies of the bluest blood of Englands and Frances most fash-i nable breeding. Thev by no means comprise the whole list of yearlings already brought over, or to lie brought over, being simply those entered in the events referred to. However, if it was true that they alone were the total of the years im Kortations. thev would represent a gain without a parallel in our" turf history. Black Sand. Ciuxal Strephon anil Ajax. represent the introduction of elements practically unknown to our breed-In. but immensely successful abroad. Not all of them will prove shining successes in the stud. but. In the nature of things, such a pro|K rtion will eert-iinlv do so as to make this a memorable year in the wav of paving the way to a signal improve nieiit in the industry of bloodstock breeding.
