ENGLISH WINTER RACING ASSURED. We are in a position to state that, as the result of the interview which the National Hunt Stewards had with the President of the Board of Trade on Wednesday last, racing will be allowed t. take place under the special conditions approved by the Board of Trade at Colwall Park, Gatwick, Hawthorn Hill, Lingfield. Newmarket, Plumpton and Windsor, and the stewards have requested those clerks of courses who wish to hold meetings to make application for fixtures. A fixture has been granted to Gatwick for Saturday. January 1. It may be recalled that at this weeks meeting of the National Hunt Committee Colonel Garratt read a letter be had received from the President of the Board of Trade on the question of racing during the coming winter, and after a prolonged discussion the committee decide*! to leave the matter in the hands of the stewards for them to arrange, if possible, for a certain amount of racing to commence in the new year, and they were authorized to grant added money to such meetings as may l e arranged, and the later announcement indicates that satisfactory arrangements are on the point of being made. — London Sporting Life of November 27.
