• 1 NEW FEATURE AT JUAREZ RIOTING OF MEXICAN SOLDIERS LEADS TO ABANDONMENT OF YESTERDAYS CARD. No Further Difficulty Expected and Assumption of Carranza Control Viewed with Relief — Some Departures for Tia Juana. El Paso. Tex., December 21. — There was no racing at tlie Juarez track tixlay because of the susiien-sion of street car service between this city ami Juarez as a result of the excitement growing out of a disturbance in cinnectiou with the transfer of the city of Juarez to Carranza control. A party of Mexican soldiers, said to have been in an intoxicated condition, started in to shoot up one of the saloons in Juarez alwut 11:30 oclock. Great excitement followed, but the disturbers were finally rounded up by the local military authorities and thrown into the guard house. Electric car service across the International boundary was immediately suspended, and so the days card at tlie Juarez track was declared off. New entries had been prepared before the disturbance began and racing will be resumed tomorrow- with a new card. Conditions quieted down during the afternoon and the probability is that there will be no mere disturbances. It is expected that the transfer of the city of Juarez to the Carranza forces, tinder the agreement just concluded witli the Villa faction, will benefit tlie meeting of the Jockey Club Juarez im mediately. There has been some timidity on the part of the ix»ople of El Paso about going to tho track under the uncertain conditions that have been prevailing. It is notable that, in spite of the frequent changes of government that have taken place at Juarez, while Mexico has been disturbed by internal troubles for the past few years, no attempt has been made to interfere with the American thoroughbreds that have been quartered at the Juarez track each winter. There have been a few departures of horses from Juarez during the past week, hound for the Tia Juana meeting, but the nnmlier has been negligible. One carload went forward and there may be a few more shipments before New Y ears Day. Those that have already lett comprise eight in tho stable of J. Randolph, embracing Uncle Jiuimie Gray. Baby Lynch, Princess Industry. Minco Jimmie, Bob Lynch. Leford. Laughing Water and Rr.voco. In the same car J. G. Bussey shiped Yorkville. while W. Scuitto sent Sweetdale. There will be several riders who will leave here to try their luck at the new track, but their departure will not impair the ranks of the Juarez riding colony to any appreciable extent.
