1 I i , CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. * Andrew Miller, one of the stewards of the Jockey Club, has gone to Florida to spend a month or two and recuperate from his recent indisposition. Recent arrivals of jockeys at New Orleans Include G. Byrne, who will ride as a free lance at the Fair Grounds, and T. Rice, who is under contract to G. W. Wingfield. It is said to be the intention of the prospective purchasers of the Maisonneuve track at Montreal to convert the plant into a mile course, with an open book to replace the syndicate ring. p The story dated from Montreal that a bill to create a Quebec Racing Commission was to he in- troeluced in the House of Commons evidently ore-inated outside of Canada.
