1 JUST PRAISE FOR KENTUCKY RACING. In a general review of the 1915 racing season, the ■ east stands out prominently bees ape of the remarkable - growth of the sport in that section as shown i in the increase of racing dates and the approach 1 to old-time interest on the part of tiie public. But t a closer scrutiny of conditions reveals the fact that t racing in Kentucky was conducted on a plane with i which that of no other section could compare. Although the east had its Suburban. Brooklyn, Metropolitan and Futurity, claim to eminence, with the n exception of the Futurity, rested wholly ou tradition. The great Suburbans. Metropolitans, Brcok-lyus |" of days gone by were reflected in the prestige accorded tiie cheap races which bore the illustrious ■ names during the year just closed. In view of the t hardships suffered by racing in the east patience e must be exercised, and it is very probable that time e will enable the associations to offer purses iu keeping - witli the class of racing developed. At present t Kentucky stands alone. With minor events equaling in value many of the easts features, the tracks of this state set a mark for the ambition of rival 1 sections by hanging up three stakes of more than ii 0,000. Only four raees worth more than 0,000 9 were decided in the country last yenr. the Kentucky Derby, the Kentucky Handicap, the Latonia i Derby and the Futurity. The one feature of this s generosity regret table from the stand|K int of the 0 Kentuekian is the fact thai most of the money was s won by easterners. Throughout the season eastern-owned - horses showed superiority over the western-• wned animals, but a perusal of the stud ln ok k traces their success to the blnegrass. With racing on the upward path in the east, the demand for Ken-tuck ] bred animals is great, and eastern success a on the turf is directly rejected in the Kentucky Y nurseries. — Louisville Courier-Journal.
