I ] 1 ] I I I | + ■ TWO-YEAR-OLDS OF 1915 THAT REPAID THEIR PURCHASERS 1 * Each recurring year brings its story of two-year-old failures in racing which were costly purchases as yearlings and which by reason of size and conformation, close relationship to noted racers, or especially fashionable breeding, seemed to hold out high promise of success in racing. Not all the high-priced ones fall, as witness the cases of Bulse, Puss in Boots, Celandria, Prohibition, Prince of Como, Success aud Broom Corn iu the racing of 1815. But the list of high-priced failures is much larger than that of tlrjse which justified the outlay that gained possession of them. However, it may and probably will turn out, that some of those which did not make good as two-year-olds will do so in their pending careers. The counter balancing feature is that many bought cheaply make up for the delinquencies of the high-priced ones. It will be observed that three 0 purchases won more than a thousand each and John Huffmans Mary H. returned 88.800 for an initial investment of 5.
