February tt. — Although entering upon its final stages, the winter race meeting of the Business Mens Racing Association yet has its licst in store, the three big stakes which are to be run ill the last three weeks of the meeting. Ten days previous to Hs running the entries will close and live days lief ore the date set for its decision the weights will be given out. Her recent performance of establishing a new track record for throe and one-half furlongs — UK — makes Bedtime Stories, owned by William Hurley, seem like the best two year-old here. At least she appears the best of any of those- which have been seen under colors at this meeting. In her first two starts she ran like a good youngster. especially in the last one. when she was eased up towards the end. and still broke the track record. She ran the grot part of this race at a terrific pace, going the first eighth in 11%. the quarter iu 224r. anil the three-eighths in :;." . Her time for the three-eighths was faster than any of the three -eighths of a mile races run here this meeting, or any other time, as it is one-tilth of a second faster than the track mark for tli - distance-. She will lie nominated for all of the two-year-old stakes for which she may Ik- eligible in Kentucky and owner Hurley expects her to give a good account of herself, provided she trains on like- she has been doing. Too much credit cannot lie given Pan Zareta for her performance last Saturday, when she shouldered 140 pounds and almost touciied the track record. That event made oik- hundred and ten times she had faced the starter ill a race and her fifty-ninth victory. She is the cspeoial pet of the local racegoers and every time she- steps on the track she is given a tremendous ovation. Her effort against time, in an attempt to lower the present track record of 1:37% for a mile at the Fair Grounds, is certain to draw a crowd that will tax the capacity of the plant. This will take place some day this wick, after the track has had plenty of f chance- to become good and fast. Even though she docs not lower the mile record, it is more than likely that she will establish new marks all around JJ ■ for the first three- quarters anil, if she fails, it will 1 be in the last quarter of a mile.
