Duggan. who was the trainer of Am-iierite when that celebrity brought off the trehle event of the Australian Jockey Club and Victoria Racing Club Derbys and the C.iultield Cup. Duggan was always to be reckoned with in the Sydney Cup for as a j -key he won it in successive years 1S7:; ami 1KT4 on Vixen and Speculation, and he himself trained a more recent winner of that rac-in Correae. Amberite was ridden in the three big events by M. Han-is. and he in- a really goad colt by Carbine, for in the Iaullield Cup he carried lor, pounds, a weight which only "lie other three year old ha- sueecdod in carrying to Victory.
