P.akers I Dr. Carmen ran with great speed this afternoon and J accounted for the mile handicap that featured the card, incidentally covering the course in 1:3!. which cipiailed tin- mark for a mile established during this meeting by lan Zareta. He won with the greatest of case over Monsieur 1erci. with Greenwood getting up to beat Bonanza for third money. Monsieur Perci. because of his previous good racing, ruled a strong favorite and flattered hi-- supporters by showing the way until well into the stretch, where Dr. Carmen passed into the had with a. rush and won hard held. Summerlike weather again prevailed here and helped to bring out the full strength of the race goers. Prominent visitors from all parts of the country were again in attendance. The twenty -seven "information men who previously were in line again looked after the wants of those speculatively inclined. The limit number of starters allowed to race over the track went to the post in the second and thiN race* and dose finishes attended the running of both. Cooper resumed riding this afternoon, but sustained a slight injury to his leg when Asparagus Sam caromed into the fence, necessitating the cancelling of his remaining engagements. Obert was substituted on Dr. Carmen. W. A. PlnfcertOM received a telegram today from J. W. Coffroth at San Diego, stating that the Tijuana track would open on April 15 for a race meeting of 100 or more days and that the ring would be open to all reputable layers.
