Two -Year-Olds to Race Each Day — New Mutuel Machines Installed — Arrivals of Daily Occurrence — Horses at Work. Paltimore. Md.. March 29. — The Jockey Clubs new rule regarding selling races, which eliminates one of the objections under former conditions, will go into effect at the opening of the Powie meeting on Saturday next. Instead of the owner of the horse finishing second and the association dividing the runup surplus, all the starters in the race will split it equally Pnder this ruling, for example, if eight thoroughbreds start and the winner is advanced Suuo. each owner will receive 025. The P.owie management will cater to long distance races during tlie first seven days, and the program look for the remainder of the meeting probably will contain just as many opportunities for the route-going horses. For every day. except Monday. April 3. three contests have been arranged at a mile or more, while there will be a number at seven-eighths out of the chute. Two-year-olds will have a race for themselves on each of the first seven days and will show how good tiny are in the first race on the program. The distance of each contest will be a half mile. One is a S2 combination booth, making two in operation, and the other is a SS straight and show combination, the latter be-ing the first to be used iu Maryland. Trainers at Powie were busy yesterday. Notwithstanding the rain, the track was in good condition and thirty or more horses were worked in preparation for the opening day. The best per-foi-man.es were those of Ina Kay. Rustling Prass and Hand full. Ina Kay worked a half in 49% and finished out three-quarters in 1:18. This one is in James Johnstones stable. The filly showed well at New Orleans. Rustling Brass did a half in H, and three-quarten in 1:18. W. A. Purttscin 11 has this one fit. The veteran trainer. Theodore Coles, is at Powie with three of the get of Pohby Kean. the property of W. P. Maupin. They are Mollie Keen, a five-year- Id maiden; P.illy Kean, a four-year-old maiden, and Capital City, a two-year-old out of Bminola, by Aloha.
