June 12 — Grand National Steeplechase. .1 ii n*- 14 — peine Mi in rial Stakes. Five thoroughbreds arrived on the Minnehaha a today from England OhssOJOOi to M. Grossman. The g identity of only three could be learned — The Pattler. Prisoners Peap and Poyal York. It was claimed by those who had charge of the shipment that The Battler was four years old. According to the English Stud Pook a horse named The Pattler is Bine yea.-- old and was sired by Pestrclin or Clon-mel. Prisoners Pi ap is a bay filly. 4. by Dunbar-ton Castle — Pun. and Royal fork is a brown gelding. 4. by Morgandale— Flirty. One of the other two was known on the ship as the Pillow colt. The fifth could not be identified. Mr. Grossman. the consignee, is not known here in raring circles. Some of the horses belonging to the estate of tie lite IP P. Duryea will be flipped here as SOOU as possible. Eighteen of them are now in Knglsn 1 ready for shipment, but are being held there awaiting the arrival of other two-year-olds an 1 yearlings coming from Frame. All are two-year •Ids and yearlings, not one of tiie older horses being permitted to lave Fiance. The same condition of affairs exists as to the Widener stable. All of the Duryea horses will be sold at auction soon after their arrival here. Whil" many of the older horses from the Duryea and Widener stables are entered in stakes in this eountiy. it is doubtful if they will fill their engagements unless there is an early termination of the war. P. T. Wilson retained today from his winter boast at Palmetto Bluff, S. C. His health has improved wonderfully and be is delighted with the extraordinary prospects for brilliant racing at Saratoga this year. On Saturday. May 27. the members of the Coach Club will attend Pelmont Park in a body and. to signalise the event, a special race will be carded called tlie Coaching Club Stakes, for two-year-olds.
