NO STAKE RACES AT CONNAUGHT PARK. Ottawa. Onfc. April 3— The Connaught Park Jockey Ciub. at a meeting of the management committee yesterday, decided to increase the purses for overnight rsw none of which will be less than 00. There will tie a race for Canadian breds every day. at both the spring and fall meetings. It is not likely that there will l e any stakes offered this year. Last fall the meeting was without stake races. The club also decided to cater to thoroughbreds of stamina, by making the majority of the races over longer distances. Only two or three races tar horses three-years-old and over will be short-r than three-quarters. Honorable Secretary Ross also announces that all the employes in conneetioii with the pari-iuutiici machines will l e Canadians. Over one liuiidr- d v ill Ik- required to operate the iron men. and residents of this city will get first call. The mutuel pl.int is now being installed
