UNCLE BRYN TAKES THE CONNAUGHT CUP. Wins in a Head -and -Head Finish with Ormulu and King Hamburg — Sweet Colleen First. Toronto. Ont.. May 25.— J. K. L. Ross of Montreal and Jospeli K. Seagram, president of the Ontario Jockey Club, whose horses have figured quite prominently at the Woodbine meeting this spring, furnished the winners of the two feature races this afternoon in 1ncle Bryn and Sweet Colleen. The former accounted for the Conuaught Cup with ,000 added, while Sweet Colleens victory MM with the running of the Maple Leaf Stakes with . HIO added. Uncle Bryn came back after his hard race in the Toronto Cup yesterday and shoved a splendid performance. As usual lie liegan slowly and McAtee was foreed to go around his opponents to get up. He came from last place while rounding tlie far turn ami while entering the home streteli disposed of Skeer Face and King K. It was a desperate drive through the last sixteenth and Uncle Bryn, although 1 ill ni; at the finish, managed to last long enough to win by a head from Ormulu. King Hamburg was beaten only a neck for second place. It was a splendid finish and aroused much enthusiasm. Sweet Colleen had to lie ridden out to outstay her staid" companion. Late Hours in the Maple Ixaf Stakes. The winner was inclined to bear out at the end and Pickens was kept busy trying to make her run straight. Tiie attendance was again large and speculation brisk. Several owners shipped to the Blue Bonnets course at Mont real this afternoon. The consignment was made f the liorses of G. R. Tompkins, James Do-deu and M. Gorman. Francis. J. Pons and James Arthur will send a division of tiieir stables from here to Hamilton to rest for that meeting. Judge Wright will be among the number. The remainder of the liorses will be shipped to Montreal. John Nixon is another owner who will go from here to Hamilton. Before leaving let .Montreal M. Sheridan Clark, secretary of the Dorval Jockey Club, was an arrival. lie is hero in the interest of his meet inc. which immediately follows the close of the Woodbine meeting. Mr. Clark will receive entries tomorrow and on Saturday for the opening days racing at Dorval. William Snyder, one of A. B. Dades assistants. goes from hero to Baltimore, whore lie will do the starting during the meeting at the Gentlemans Driving Park next week. It is said that Jospeli A. Murphy is perfecting plans to give ■ meeting in St. mmMi in August. The plan followed at the Fair Grounds meeting in New Orleans will be used. William Garth, who is in New York at present. will remain there to attend the Puryca and Hancock sales. lie will lie in Montreal next week to take the place of his son.
