IMPROVED GOING AT BLUE BONNETS. Robert Bradley on His Good Behavior and a Winner Once More — Several Winners Bid Up. Montreal. Que., June 12. — The races at Blue Bonnets this afternoon were run over a drying track. The program was made up of a series of overnight races, the features of which were a steeplechase over the two -mile course, a handicap at three -Marten and an allowance race at a mile. The latter race furnished a stirring contest, in which Robert Bradley beat All Smiles by a nose. Robert Bradley, which has been leaving the barrier better in his recent races, went to the front and drew away into a long lead in the first eighth. He set a terrific pace for the going, running the first querter in 23% and the half mile in 49. but was tiring at the finish. King Neptune went to his knees just as the barrier was sprung and this put him out of the running. The "halter" men were again busy during the afternoon and two of the winners were bid up. Scaramouch, winner of the third race, was run up 00 over his entered price of ,000 by L. W. Garth and retained. Frijolce. winner of the steeplechase, was advanced from 00 to 05 by S. Louis and he, too. was retained. T. J- Bird lias been made agent for J. K. L. Boss. He will take Highway and several other horses to Ottawa and the remainder of the Boss stable will be shipped to Hamilton by Capt. W. F. Presgrave. The horses trained by James Boden and W. Gorman, comprising the string owned by 1. Raymond anil P. Gorman, were shipped to Conn. night Iark at Ottawa this morning. Capper King, in the Gorman stable, came out of his h-st race lame and will probably lie on the shelf for a time. The MM Purit-tu Iass, in the same stable, has lieen mated with Dorante. Mr. Gorman, string will he strengthened by the addition of four two-year-olds and two three -year -olds that he purchased from J. E. Madden last week. They will be shipped from New York to Ottawa. John Walters and E. W. Moore left with their horses for Hamilton this afternoon. Included in this consignment were Rancher and the fast im-I orted mare Arrict. The stewards of the Canadian Racing Association, have placed The Rump and Luther on the list of horses whose entry will not be received for the reason of their being bad actors at the post. Trainer W. A. Rurtschell. while alighting from a street car yesterday, fell and wrenched one of his ankles. Jockey J. Pendergast. who has been ill for several days suffering from pneumonia, died at one of the local hospitals this morning. A collection was taken up among the horsemen to defray the expenses of his funeral. A meeting of the horsemen now racing in Montreal was held on Saturday night, when a Canadian branch of the Thoroughbred Horse Association was formed and a number of members enrolled. The plans for the Canadian branch were outlined and discussed while a membership committee was formed and officers elected. William Walker of Toronto was chosen as chairman of the committee, while Captain W. J. Press of Ottawa was named as treasurer and Harry Giddiugs. Jr.. as secretary- The executive committee is composed of Allan Bulcroft, James Boden. P. Delaney, N. R. Sutherland, T. J. Bird and William S. Stormont These have power to add to their number. Another meeting will be held during one of the meetings at the tracks of the Canadian Racing Associations, when other executive officers will be chosen. Following the meeting on Saturday night, a meeting of the owners racing on th" half-mile tracks was held, at which it was decided to ask the half-mile circuit managements for an increase in the purses. The horsemen will ask to have the purses increased from 00 to 00.
